Saint Barthélemy, officially the Territorial collectivity of Saint Barthélemy, is an overseas collectivity of France. Often abbreviated to Saint-Barth in French, or St. Barts or St. Barths in English, the indigenous people called the island Ouanalao. St. Barts lies about 35 km (21.75 mi) southeast of Saint Martin, and north of St. Kitts. Puerto Rico is 240 km (149.1 mi) to its west in the Greater Antilles.

St Barts has long been considered a playground of the rich and famous and is known for its beautiful pristine beaches, gourmet dining in chic restaurants and high-end designer shopping. There is one small airport that can only accommodate small prop planes from St Martin and San Juan, and the harbor is too small to accommodate cruise ships. The fact that it is hard to get to is part of the islands appeal.

When to go:
December through to May is considered to be the dry season, while June through to November is considered to be the rainy season. However, rain showers or clear skies can occur at any time during the year.
